The Moselsteig
Hiking where the wine grows!

Experience the whole diversity of the Moselle
wine culture landscape!
Since its opening in spring 2014, the Moselsteig Trail, with its 365 kilometers in length and a total of 24 very different stages, has been one of the longest and most beautiful hiking trails in Germany.
Follow the footsteps of the steep slope winemakers
Stage 18 (Beilstein-Cochem) of the Moselsteig leads directly past beautiful Ernst. Over the rocky paths of the BREVA hiking trail and along numerous steep slopes, this Moselsteig trail section gives an idea of the hardships involved in viticulture on the Moselle.
At the same time you get an unforgettable view over Ernst and the Moselle up to Cochem. With numerous stops to pause, you can also enjoy a good glass of wine right in the vineyard.
A hiking trail in a class of its own
From January to June 2016, hiking enthusiasts could cast their vote for one of ten nominated day tours and one of five nominated long-distance hiking trails that they liked best.

The vote was clear: With over 41 percent of the votes cast, the Moselsteig won the popular award in the category „Routes (long-distance hiking trails)”. With this, the Moselsteig was able to win another coveted award after its certification as „Quality Trail Wanderable Germany” and „Leading Quality Trail – Best of Europe“.
